Hiding Administrative Tools from Start Menu

1.20.2010

Users are accustomed to using Windows NT-based, including Windows 7, would recognize Administrative Tools feature that allows administrators to configure, manage and monitor the computer. Considering how vital this facility, it would be better if the Administrative Tools are not presented in the Start Menu.

To hide the Administrative Tools are installed on the Start menu, do the following steps :

  1. Click Start, then type "regedit" in the Run dialog box.
  2. Enter the sub key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current\Version\Explorer\Advanced.
  3. Click the right mouse button on the right side window, then click "New > String Value".
  4. Give the name of the new Value String by typing "StartMenuAdminTools".
  5. Fill in the Value Data "NO".
  6. Exit Registry Editor and restart Windows to see the changes.
Good luck
