Configuring Gmail IMAP

There are times when we need to stay connected with business partners wherever we are. Yup, in a state far from the hustle and bustle of the city, without a WiFi network and the GPRS connection to improvise, you need a friendly email client.

If your PocketPC user, you are really lucky. In the device has reliable mail client that we know as Microsoft Outlook. Ability to support IMAP is the right solution for the system can pick up email automatically within a certain time range. At the same time we avoid looking for areas that have GPRS signal.

Activate your Gmail IMAP, how that is :


  1. Through browser or PDA web browser, sig in on Gmail
  2. Click setting on the top right corner of Gmail.
  3. Click the Forwarding and POP / IMAP.
  4. Select Enable IMAP. Until spots on the left side of the text to fill the green ball.
  5. Click Save Changes.

Open the Start Menu and select Messaging - New Email Account.

  1. Enter your Gmail username (complete with @gmail.com) in field Email Address.
  2. Uncheck the box "get setting automatically from the internet", then click next.
  3. Select "internet e-mail" as the email provider. 
  4. Enter the name you want to display on the email sent from your PocketPC.
  5. Enter a descriptive name for your email account and click next.  
  6. Enter 'imap.gmail.com' in the Incoming Mail Server. 
  7. Select IMAP4 as the email account in the drop-down menu and click next. 
  8. Enter the full email address and password. 
  9. Enter 'smtp.gmail.com' in the Outgoing Mail Server. Be sure to check the Outgoing Server Requires Authentication. 
  10. Click the Advance Server Setting link. Be sure to check the Require SSL box, either on the incoming or outgoing email.
  11. Select The Internet as a network connection in the drop-down menu. 
  12. Click Done and then click Next. 
  13. Set how often you receive the PDA and send an email automatically from the drop-down menu. 
  14. For advanced download options, you can click the link Review All Download Settings. 
  15. Click Finish. 
How easy right? With IMAP email in your PDA, you do not need to open a web page to simply read and download your mail.
